pizza face
Without leaving the houses my Sissies, Marika and Opai were able to create amazing homemade pizzas with what was laying around the pantry. They used a pizza dough recipe I found last year - fast, easy, delizioso:
QUICK AND EASY PIZZA CRUST
2 c. white or whole wheat flour
1 pkg. or 1 tbsp. active dry yeast
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c. warm water
1 tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. honey
Pour flour into a large mixing bowl. Add yeast and salt. Mix well. Add
water, oil and honey; mix well. Cover with a moist cloth and place in
a warm spot for 10 minutes to rise. Punch down and press into a greased 14 inch pizza pan or a 10 inch pan for a thicker crust. Spread sauce and other ingredients on pizza crust. Bake at 425 degrees for 15 to 20 minutes or until crust is golden brown and cheese is melted.

Travelin' Wo-Man
Most Sundays, after flipping through the NYT Travel section, I feel like getting the hell out of town. What's that I hear calling? Adventure! Forget about planning trips months ahead of time and carefully packing suitcases, we can buy clothes when we get there. Don't think - just bring a tooth brush and a clean pair of skivvies.
Places I'd like to be:
1. Greece
2. Oahu
3. The South
4. Barcelona
5. Big Sur
Your picks?

The open road
This is the grossest/most depressing thing I have seen in a while!
Ewwwww! Slim Shots Appetite Controller. That is sick in so many ways. Look at that woman's face in the picture. She looks like she is dying inside. She is probably thinking about how her modeling career has hit a new low, and I would agree! Slim Shots?!?! I tried to look up the ingredients of this tasty appetite suppressant online, and all I got was: oat oil, palm oil, artificial vanilla flavoring, and aspartame. Gross. I have an idea for a diet snack! How about an apple?!?! It would actually probably be healthier just to encourage woman to take laxatives, and just shit out all the jalapeno poppers they had for dinner! Honestly, haven't people caught on yet that exercise really does work? How about fruits and vegetables? Slim Shots are the type of things that send people into deep, dark, downward spirals of despair. Just looking at one of those little shooters makes me want to shoot myself or binge on ice cream; one or the other.
Oh Herbs!
I love herbs. Nothing in the world can compare to fresh herbs! Herbs will take a mediocre dish and make it wonderful. Herbs will take a simple pasta recipe and make it pop. Let's say you make a simple pizza. What? Oregano? And it just became %1000 better. This weekend, for Dad's birthday Shabbat, Devra blew my mind by combining two things that I love very much: herbs and booze. It was a simple rosemary lemonade with vodka. Yum! Lemonade and vodka together are pretty good, but add rosemary and it suddenly becomes amazing. It also works really well with thyme or mint. See? I love herbs!

She gives me a woody
We saw Woody Allen's new film, Vicky Cristina Barcelona. Penelope Cruz's character Maria Elena was the best part of the film - passionate, cocky, intense, wild, with gorgeous hair. After the film we starting recalling our favorite Allen films.
My list:
1. Annie Hall
2. Everyone Says I Love You
3. Manhattan
4. Husbands & Wives
5. Vicky Cristina Barcelona

I love me a good pancake
Hanni and I have made it our mission to seek out the best pancakes in Seattle, a challenging task that must be done. This new found mission came about after my favorite pancake in Seattle ceased to be made when the restaurant closed down. We went to 14 Carrot Cafe for brunch and the Cottage Cheese pancakes (sounds nasty, but not) were amazing, not to mention the warm cinnamon role!

Emerald City Soul Club, Lo-Fi, Seattle
Jenny and I went out to celebrate Rosie's Birthday last Saturday night with some dancing at the Emerald City Soul Club night at Lo-Fi. Hot sweaty bodies and good music. Check it out the second Saturday of the month.
"Emerald City Soul Club is a monthly soul night here in Seattle, WA dedicated exclusively to RARE SOUL from the 60s and Early 70s, Tamla-Motown favorites, with a smattering of 60s RnB, 70s Crossover and Modern on original 45. You will not hear Funk/Ska/Reggae/Freakbeat/Garage/Mod/Hammond Groove, etc. However, we are not in the business of catering to chin-strokers, so if you are interested in coming out, dancing, DJing, having a positive attitude and a goodtime, you are certainly welcome!" - MySpace.com/EmeraldCitySoulClub

CARHARTT
I am a Carhartt appreciator. In this I'll also include Dickies and Ben Davis. I love Carhartt on men, women, and children alike. When I see someone on the street wearing Carhartt it tells me they are a person who values quality and comfort, without jeopardizing on style. It says I'm tough, rouged, and know how to get dirty. When I have children they won't be wearing baby Gap - they'll be wearing Carhartt overalls and knit hats. In Carhartt men look tough, women look casually sexy, and kids look cute. I own several Carhartt pieces, but there is no need to feel guilty purchasing Carhartt because you know it's never going out of style and will last you for years. Carhartt is like a fine wine...it only gets better with age.
Check out Carhartt for women and Carhartt streetwear.
I found a new passion in life (thanks to Jackie and Isabel)... that is pandas and cuteoverload.com. If you are ever in a bad mood or need some cheering up go there and I promise it will help, or occupy a large amount of time looking at all the adorable baby animals. Anik you will enjoy this. Look at the hedgehogs also, you wouldn't think they are worth it but they are, I assure you.

Julie Atlas Muz
I have been taking burlesque classes in NYC with Jo Boobs, at the Slipper Room. It's fun. The very first lesson we all took our shirts off and learned how to tassel twirl. I happen to be a natural. Whatever, no biggie. I really want to perform, but I am nervous to be naked on stage in front of a lot of people. It's kind of like a bad dream, but with music and sparkles. I'm going to do it though! Maybe even next week. We might be having a student showcase. I wrote an email to Julie Atlas Muz, who is a performace artist and burlesque sensation. I was asking her if she had any advice for a new burlesque performer. This is what she wrote:
Hey Sweetie-
Well doll the best advice I can give you is enjoy yourself and love the audience. It's not rocket science and your not playing carnegie hall, yet, so put all your heart and enthusiasm into it, but not too much pressure. I hope to see you soon. Curretly I am working on a project in Singapore but will be back in August.
Love,
Julie
Isn't that nice? Julie has done all sorts of shows where she pops out of balloons, swims naked under water, emerges from a suitcase, and so much more. Her email address is iloveyou@julieatlasmuz.com. No, Julie, I love you!

People I Like
Seeing Sandra Bernhard as the guest judge on Project Runway last week made me remember what a cool, bad-ass-bitch she is. Original, weird, witty - keep doin' your damn thing.
